FAREWELL TREVOR TIBBERTSMA
We say farewell once again to Trevor who leaves for Rome next Friday. On September 29 Trevor will be ordained to the Diaconate at St Peter’s Basilica. We wish him well as he commences the last stage of his preparations for the priesthood. Please keep him in your prayers. And from Trevor:
Thanks everyone for having me again! It's gone so fast but I'm glad to have been with you. I will pray for you in Rome as I continue my studies in Sacred Scripture.
MEET N MINGLE
Meet 'n Mingle is on Thursday, September 1 from 10am to 12 noon in the Jarrow Room at St. Bede’s Parish. Our guest speaker is Peter Burns from Council to Homeless Persons. Morning tea will follow. All welcome.
MORNING TEA FOLLOWING MORNING MASS
There will be morning tea at St Anne’s on Friday September 2 following the 10am Mass. St Bede’s will hold morning tea the following Wednesday September 7.
RCIA – ADULT CONFIRMATION
The RCIA team is offering formation for adults who have not been confirmed. If you have not been confirmed and wish to be, please contact the Parish Office 88514600. The first evening will be next Tuesday August 30 at 7.30pm at St Bede’s in the Narthex.
ASRC FOODBANK COLLECTION
The monthly collection for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Foodbank raised $429.70. The funds are directed to provide food for those in our midst who are not permitted to work due to Government policy. Thank you for your ongoing generosity.
On Saturday September 10 at 10am Archbishop Hart will ordain Tao Pham to the priesthood at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Earlier this year Geoff McIlroy and Darien Sticklen were ordained. Archbishop Hart invites us to pray for these new priests and for other men whom God is calling to the Priesthood. Our prayer for vocations and for priests is an essential way that we can support the Church in Melbourne for the present and the future.
MIGRANT AND REFUGEE SUNDAY
Today, August 28, the Catholic Church in Australia will celebrate Migrant and Refugee Sunday. Pope Francis, in keeping with the theme for the Jubilee Year of Mercy, brings to the forefront the connection between the issues which migrants and refugees face and the message from the Gospel of Mercy.

ORGAN RECITAL BY MARK SLAVEC
Our young organist at St Bede’s Church, Mark Slavec will be giving an organ recital on Wednesday September 14 between 1 and 1.30pm at St Paul’s Cathedral, Cnr Flinders & Swanston St, Melbourne.

The Social Justice Group is asking for volunteers to assist with the ASRC collection. This involves attending the Mass of your choice a few minutes early and leaving 5 – 10 minutes late, if you can help please contact the Parish Office.
WORLD YOUTH DAY
Both of our pilgrims have returned safely from World Youth Day. Thank you to all of you for your prayers and support. The young men will be speaking at Masses on September 10 and 11. A good website for more information is at melbournecatholics.org.au, click on the World youth Day tab.
